      Oh no! What's wrong?

      • We didn't catch that,
why don't you give it another try.

Love this recipe... quick and easy. As far as the amount of burger someone commented on... we have tried letting it sit for a few minutes to thicken up before eating. That makes all the difference.

Tasted and looked just like Hamburger Helper served on a bun. The Mister loved it and so did the kiddos. I'll be making this for them again subbing TVP for the hamburg.

I can only assume that anon & 7up didn't follow the directions, i.e., bring it to a true boil, simmer uncovered. Plus, any dish like this needs to rest a bit on a trivet. It thickened up quite nicely for me; easily one of the simplest recipes I've ever seen. 2 1/2 pounds of ground instead of just 1? Really!?! I'm much handier around my charcoal grill than in the kitchen, but even the Mrs. is sometimes impressed with my cooking, and this was an instant hit! So just be sure you bring it to a TRUE boil, simmer UNCOVERED, and set it on your favorite trivet for a little while. If nothing else, boil it a tad longer than you think may be needed, but keep stirring it or the cheese may begin scorching, and perhaps simmer it a little longer, too. And let it rest! This came out thicker than any old plain style sloppy joe mixture, which makes it way less messy. Patience pays off! Delicious!

This is the first Recipe Starter I have tried, and I must say I am not impressed. It was soupy and the flavor was only so-so. The color is also not very appetizing. Sorry.

So, let me 1st say by testing this recipe, I am or was excited over another slop-a-joe recipe for my kids. Having said that, 1st will say, the flavor and taste is great. Easy ingredients and simple to make. And the end result was what I hoped. But getting there was not that great. The only problem in the recipe is: the amount of meat. That's it. 1lb doesn't cut it with the amount of cheese and can of recipe starter. It was more like a cheese soup(which was still great) if you were going for soup. This would be great as it is for that. For sloppy joes, it wasn't there. I had to use a total 2 1/2 pounds of ground to get the recipe like the photograph and not soupy. It is still a really good alternative Joe. My kids really enjoyed it's hearty-ness.
