  • Ingredients

    • 1/4 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
    • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
    • 1 can (18 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ creamy roasted garlic with chicken stock cooking sauce
    • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
    • Chopped fresh parsley, if desired
    • Grated lemon peel, if desired
    • Hot cooked rice, if desired
  • Directions

    1. Between pieces of plastic wrap or waxed paper, place each chicken breast smooth side down; gently pound with flat side of meat mallet or rolling pin until about 1/2 inch thick. In small shallow dish, mix flour with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper; dip each chicken breast into flour mixture, coating all sides.
    2. In 10-inch skillet, heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Cook chicken breasts in oil 6 to 8 minutes, turning once, or until brown. In small bowl, mix cooking sauce and lemon juice.
    3. Pour sauce mixture over chicken. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 5 to 10 minutes or until juice of chicken is clear when center of thickest part is cut (at least 165°F). Sprinkle with parsley and lemon peel. Serve with rice.

Not good. The lemon ratio was okay. The overall flavor was bland and tasted like a meal from a can...which it was. So, I guess I am to blame for using it in the first place. I had a coupon for the product and thought the idea of a meal starter was brilliant. I'll stick to homemade sauces or cream of anything soups if I need something.

Tired it with potatoes and added a bit more lemon then asked used the Roasted Garlic starter and added a bit of my own seasonings ((Adobo, Lemon pepper, a pinch of Red fish, salt ad pepper)) and instead of flour because we were out of it I used bread crumbs. It was the basic same steps and still turned out GREAT! And this was a huge hit! Everyone (expect my BF)) loved it even my 4 year old loved it. I'm most def going to use this often maybe even with different Recipe starters.

I added 1/2 tsp of: thyme, oregano and sage. I also omitted the salt in the flour mixture and then added it at the end.

This recipe is absolutely wonderful just the way it is presented on the website. My family loved it. As a matter of fact, I am making it tonight for dinner. This will be the 2nd time...but certainly not the last.

Delicious! I make lemon chicken regularly and thought I would try this as a quick alternative over rice to achieve a risotto my little guys would love! Of course they did and so did my very picky husband.

I used seasoning on the chicken and added extra seasoning to the flour mixture but I really liked this recipe! I might double the sauce though so we don't have to be stingy with it on the rice.

Like other said, this is a great 'starter' recipe. I like a strong lemon taste so I added a LOT more lemon juice, so I would suggest adding lemon to taste. I also wanted a thicker sauce so I added a can of cream of mushroom soup and then I threw in a bag of frozen broccoli and the whole thing turned out quite yummy! Without the additions, it really was quite bland, but everybody has their own particular tastes, so just add yours!

We made this last night because my daughter loves lemon chicken. We agreed it was bland. Definitely needed something and I also noted an odd aftertaste with the sauce which I read someone else detected in another recipe as well, though she thought hers was dehydrated thyme, we used all fresh ingredients. Not sure we will make this again, but if we do we will tweak it for sure.

I normally can't stand eating chicken. But my family makes this, and it's AMAZING. We just add lemon until it tastes right though, instead of having a set amount. But, this is definitely one meal that me and my family LOVE. Bravo to this.

This was a big hit!! I baked my chicken to cut out frying. Then made the sauce to pour over rice and chicken. My family likes lemon so I added an extra splash.

Quite Good. The Chicken was great and tender. I served with brown rice which was just ok, I'm sure pasta would be best.

My family's reaction was it was bland and really served no purpose in helping the chicken taste better. Despite the other reviewer who thought it was too lemony, we thought it could have used more. Don't know where the garlic came in but we couldn't taste any. Progresso products are usually tops on my list but this product will not be.

I made this tonight for supper. It looked just like the picture and was so easy, I am an experienced cook but this would be a great recipe for a beginner. Simple ingredients- just delicious. Husband liked it too- said it was like a restaurant meal. I mostly cook from scratch but I will be repeat buyer of this good starter.

It was WAY too lemony. 1 TBS lemon juice would be more than enough. The sauce was totally overpowered by the lemon.

It tastes pretty good. It took my longer than I had hoped, but my chicken breasts may have been a bit bigger than the recipe called for. I would make this again.

Bad, bad, bad. I had to scrape off all the sauce and just serve the chicken plain.

Great! Husband has health issues so I altered the recipe to accomodate his special diet. I put the boneless skinless chicken on the grill instead of frying in oil. Added the grilled chicken to the sauce as per the recipe. Served over fresh spinach leaves (reducing carbs). Delicious & healthy! Can also serve over cooked broccoli for a healthy low carb option! Wonderful!
