Sweet & Spicy Mac and Cheese

Traditional mac and cheese with a spicy twist.

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 8-inch square (2-quart) baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Cook pasta as directed on package; drain.
  • Meanwhile, in 3-quart saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter over medium heat. Add garlic and flour; cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes or until garlic is soft. Slowly stir in milk; beat with whisk until smooth. Heat over medium heat 5 to 7 minutes or until just coming to a boil. Add cheeses, pepper flakes, salt and pepper; heat and beat until melted. Stir in pasta.
  • In small bowl, mix bread crumbs and 1 tablespoon melted butter.
  • Pour pasta mixture into baking dish. Sprinkle with bread crumb mixture. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned and heated through.

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Progresso™ sweet & spicy panko crispy bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
